Rifle Gunnery 201

Course Summary:

This one-day course is designed for shooters who have completed Rifle Gunnery 101 (or equivalent experience) and are ready to advance beyond the fundamentals of rifle shooting.

Students must demonstrate a high level of firearms safety and awareness, including the ability to safely operate their rifle, manage their sling, and perform reloads and malfunction clearances without supervision.

Building on the foundation established in 101, this course focuses on increasing efficiency, speed, and adaptability, including:

  • Shooting at speed

  • Multiple target engagement and target transitions

  • Movement 

  • Managing Barricades and Cover

  • Efficient rifle handling and recoil management

  • And more!

Students will also refine structured dry fire training methods to continue improving performance outside of the range.

Course Expectations:

Students must demonstrate safe and proper firearms handling at all times. This is not a beginner level class.

Class size is limited to 10 students to ensure a strong student-to-instructor ratio and maximize individual coaching.

Schedule:

  • Start Time: 9:30am

  • Lunch:‍ ‍Students will be given 30-45 minutes for lunch. (Please bring a packed lunch)

  • End Time: Between 3:30pm to 4pm

Additional details will be emailed 2-3 days prior to the course.

Required Equipment:

  • AR-15 style rifle (chambered in .223/5.56 recommended)

    • Must have a sighting system (red dot or iron sights)

  • Minimum of 3 magazines

  • Rifle sling (2-point preferred)

  • Magazine pouches or method to carry spare magazines recommended.

  • Eye and ear protection

  • 400 rounds of ammunition

    • No armor penetrators, green tips, or tracer rounds allowed.

  • Water/snacks

  • Driver’s License - Must be a US Citizen

  • Permit to Carry / Permit to Purchase

Attire:

  • Belted pants with pockets (cargo pants or jeans recommended)

  • Closed-toe shoes

  • Weather-appropriate clothing

Recommended (Not Required):

  • Red dot optic

  • Weapon-mounted light

  • Backup rifle and supporting gear
